Happy Holidays from Hanaeleh!

Hanaeleh would like to wish everyone the safest of holidays this year, and a hope that we will be able to pass the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act (HR 503 and S 311) through Congress this next year. It has been a difficult road, but with all three slaughterhouses in the United States closed, we must take our victories, and note that we have, in one way, ended horse slaughter in the U.S. There is still more to be done, however.

With the passage of the HSPA, we could regulate and effectively keep our horses from being slaughtered in Canada and Mexico, where they meet terrible and gruesome fates. In addition, with hay prices rising, are going to see more and more horses in need of homes, at least for the short-term. Our rescue is at capacity, and we are looking for anyone who would be willing to donate or allow us to use a plot of land to keep our horses, so that we can continue to help people and horses.

We are also in great need of donations to help us through the winter months. The stress from the fires made two of our horses colic, and the astronomical vet bills that ensued are crippling our budget. Please help by donating even a small amount, or please consider sponsoring a horse- anything will help us keep going in our fight to help find homes for these horses. Remember that all contributions are tax-deductible.

To those of you who have helped us, thank you again and again. Your support has helped so many lives- people and animal alike- that we cannot begin to tell you how grateful we are.

Hanaeleh is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that operates out of Trabuco Canyon in Orange County, California. Hanaeleh rescues horses that are slaughterbound, or in need of a loving home. Oftentimes these horses are abused, neglected, untrained, or just drew a bad lot in life- whatever the reason, Hanaeleh is dedicated to helping rescue these horses and adopt them out to a new, forever home.

It is Hanaeleh's desire to be able to take in these horses and find them someone who will take care of them and love them. If you are interested in adopting a horse, please click the "Adoption Info" button. This will allow you to see the horses Hanaeleh has for adoption as well as provide you with links to many other horse rescues across the U.S. and Canada.

Hanaeleh also works to try to educate the general public and horse owners about slaughter and other issues, including PMU mares and foals. Many people do not realize the cruel way our noble animals are being treated- we strongly encourage you to click on the "Horse Slaughter" website to read about how you can help to end slaughter and other inhumane treatments of horses. Hanaeleh does not display the graphic images that coincide with these practices and the links to those sites are clearly labeled.

Thank you so much for wanting to help these marvelous reatures. Horses add so much to our lives that we feel it is only within reason that we give just a little back to them.
